When stations along the Champs-Élysées parade route closed from 6:30 am to 2 pm and vehicle movement stopped from 6 am to 3 pm across a large central perimeter, daily patterns shifted for people who use the intersection to reach work, markets and cultural sites.
Daily routines interrupted in three arrondissements
Bastille sits at the border of the 4th, 11th and 12th arrondissements. Residents there depend on the station for short hops such as the three-minute RATP Metro run from Hôtel de Ville. With buses diverted and trams suspended, trips that normally take minutes stretched into longer walks or waits for the RATP buses that continued from Rue de Jouy every 10 minutes.
The neighborhood contains the Opéra Bastille and the Marché Art et Création Paris-Bastille held each Saturday on Boulevard Richard-Lenoir. When parking was banned from 7 am on July 13 until 3 pm on July 14 in several nearby arrondissements, people heading to galleries or the Viaduc des Arts ateliers faced added barriers.
Extended service and remaining construction add pressure
Metro and RER trains ran on extended hours after 7 pm near the Eiffel Tower and through the night of July 14-15, supported by Noctilien night buses. Construction work that has already suspended RATP service between Montparnasse Bienvenue and Les Halles until July 24 continues to limit options near Bastille.
Local drivers were advised to book G7 taxis in advance because street closures created gridlock. For residents who must travel this week, the same RATP bus link from Rue de Jouy every 10 minutes and pre-booked taxis remain the documented alternatives while the July 24 construction deadline passes.
