Montparnasse Tower Renovation: €600M Project Begins March 2026

The Paris City Council approved a memorandum of understanding on July 2, 2025, to relaunch the major renovation of the Montparnasse Tower and its shopping center. The Tour Maine-Montparnasse, standing 210 meters tall, closed to visitors and was evacuated of all tenants on March 31, 2026, to facilitate its complete transformation.

The July 2, 2025, memorandum marked the formal restart after earlier delays. Architect Renzo Piano presented the redesign of the Maine Montparnasse shopping center into a pedestrian-focused district in January 2026, following the Paris City Council's vote in late 2025 to support the proposal. Construction work on the tower is expected to begin in autumn 2026.
