Paris 10th Arrondissement Requires Candidate Disclosures Before 2026 Elections
Residents along the Canal Saint Martin will receive standardized profiles on all declared candidates by the end of July under the new Paris 10th arrondissement rules.

The Paris 10th arrondissement council adopted the Municipal Candidate Disclosure Rules in June 2026. These rules require every candidate for the March 2027 municipal elections to file financial statements, prior employment records and policy positions on local services by 31 July.
The change follows adjustments to national election timelines announced after the spring parliamentary session. Canal Saint Martin lies inside the 10th arrondissement boundaries, so the filing deadline directly governs how names appear on ballots used by residents between the Bassin du Combat and the Quai de Jemmapes.
Access for local households
Under the ordinance, the arrondissement will publish the filings on its website and distribute printed summaries to every household that requests them at the mairie on Rue du Faubourg du Temple. Policy analysts note that this step replaces the previous system in which candidates supplied their own leaflets at campaign events.
Local advocates note that questions about water management along the canal and maintenance of the locks now appear as mandatory items in every candidate submission. The legislation states that each profile must address three specific topics: waste collection frequency, public lighting on the canal towpaths and the cost of the annual Velib subscription for residents.
Next steps for voters
The 2025 Paris municipal budget documents recorded 48 percent turnout among registered voters in the 10th arrondissement during the previous municipal round. The new profiles will be available in French and English at the Canal Saint Martin library branch starting 1 August. The government says the policy will allow residents to compare entries before the official campaign period opens in January 2027.
Community meetings scheduled for the last week of July at the Maison des Associations on Rue Léon Jouhaux will explain how to submit questions that candidates must answer in writing. The arrondissement clerk confirmed that all filings remain public records for five years after the election.
