The 10th arrondissement mayor's office published its updated waterway maintenance schedule on 9 July 2026. The plan sets new cleaning cycles and equipment deployment rules for the Canal Saint Martin section inside Paris city limits.

The schedule follows the formal adoption of the 2026 municipal budget by the Paris council on 8 July. That document lists the canal segment between the Jaurès and République locks as a priority site for mechanical dredging and bank reinforcement work.

Daily Effects for Local Residents

Residents along Quai de Jemmapes and Rue de Lancry will see altered boat passage windows during weekday mornings. The policy document requires dredging barges to operate between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which reduces available mooring time for private vessels used by some local delivery services.

Policy analysts at the Paris urban institute note that the same budget line also funds 12 additional waste collection points along the towpath. Local advocates in the Jacques Bonsergent neighbourhood say these points will shorten walking distances for households that currently carry refuse to the single existing bin near the Hôtel du Nord.

The budget paper records 1.8 million euros assigned to the 10th arrondissement canal works. City hall records show this figure covers equipment rental and 15 seasonal staff contracts running from September 2026 through March 2027.
