Montparnasse Parking Permit Fees Rise 50 Euros to Match Six Arrondissements
Montparnasse residents face a 50-euro increase in annual resident parking permits from September, bringing charges in line with those already applied in the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 15th and 16th arrondissements.

The adjustment raises the standard annual fee from 150 euros to 200 euros for vehicles registered in Montparnasse. It applies to approximately 12,000 permit holders who use on-street spaces near the Gare Montparnasse rail terminal and the surrounding commercial streets.
Alignment with other districts
Paris city hall introduced the mobility framework in 2024 to standardise permit pricing across central and inner arrondissements. Montparnasse now joins six other districts that already charge 200 euros. Outer districts such as the 19th and 20th continue to set the fee at 120 euros. The difference reflects higher demand for curb space in areas with dense offices and rail connections.
Local transport analysts note that the fee structure aims to reduce circling for parking spots during weekday rush hours. Data from the Paris transport authority shows Montparnasse recorded 1,800 daily on-street parking searches in 2025, compared with 900 in the 20th arrondissement.
Effects on daily costs and services
Households in Montparnasse will pay the new rate when permits are renewed after 1 September. Small businesses along Rue de la Gaîté that rely on delivery vehicles have been advised to apply for separate commercial permits priced at 350 euros. The municipal budget allocates 2.5 million euros in 2026 for expanded resident parking enforcement officers in the 14th arrondissement.
City records indicate the revenue will fund maintenance of 4,200 metered spaces and the addition of 180 new bicycle racks near the Montparnasse tower redevelopment site. Residents without off-street parking will see the direct cost increase on their annual municipal bill.
Implementation begins with renewal notices mailed in August. The 14th arrondissement council will review compliance data in December 2026 before any further adjustments scheduled for 2027.
