Bastille en Jeux Draws Crowds With 14+ Sports Activities

The Comité de Paris of the Fédération Sportive et Gymnique du Travail staged the opening edition of Bastille en Jeux on 14 and 15 June 2025 at Place de la Bastille, giving residents direct access to a range of inclusive sports and cultural sessions without membership barriers.

The timing aligned with the federation’s long-standing push for accessible practice in central Bastille, where local clubs already operate year-round but rarely stage a single-site gathering of this scale. Organisers positioned the weekend as an entry point for families and newcomers who might not otherwise join structured sessions at existing venues.

Three practice formats shaped the programme

Activities were grouped into progressive sessions centred on enjoyment, family formats that paired parents with children, and cooperative formats that avoided elimination. These strands ran alongside three guiding themes: inclusive sport open to all ages and abilities, the role of physical activity in lifelong health, and an exhibition tracing the history of popular sport through FSGT figures.

Highlights included a collective fresco open to every participant, fitness testing stations measuring strength, flexibility, coordination and endurance, and short demonstrations that preceded hands-on trials. Scale of the local network

The Paris committee supports 15,000 practitioners, 2,000 volunteer organisers and 330 clubs across the capital, figures drawn directly from the federation’s published profile. Nationally the FSGT counts 250,000 practitioners and 4,200 clubs offering around one hundred physical, sporting and artistic activities.
