Latin Quarter Residents Pack Two Parks Weekly for Dog-Friendly Group Fitness
Latin Quarter residents pack two neighborhood green spaces each week for group runs and strength circuits that include their dogs.
How we reported this

Forty-eight dogs and owners completed the 4-kilometer loop at Jardin des Plantes on July 8 before moving into resistance-band rows and squats on the grass near Rue Cuvier.
The Latin Quarter’s dense student and young-professional population faces rising reports of isolation this summer, and city wellness programs have responded by adding structured activity to existing dog areas rather than creating new facilities.
At Jardin des Plantes the fenced eastern meadow opens at 7 a.m. daily for off-leash time; the adjacent gravel path hosts the Canine Cardio group every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 a.m. A second site, the open lawn inside Square Paul-Painlevé on Rue des Écoles, runs Paws and Poses yoga on Saturdays at 9 a.m. Both locations sit inside the 5th arrondissement and fall under the same permit system managed by the neighborhood parks office.
Attendance and costs
The Latin Quarter Parks Department logged 312 combined check-ins across the two sites in June, a 28 percent increase from the same month last year. Drop-in fees stand at 10 euros per person or 15 euros for a household with one dog; monthly passes cost 42 euros and include access to both locations plus basic first-aid supplies provided on site.
Participants arrive with their own mats and water bowls. The programs supply resistance bands and cones for drills. No advance registration is required, though the parks office asks owners to carry current vaccination records.
Residents can find updated schedules on the 5th arrondissement website or by stopping at the small information kiosk at the Jardin des Plantes main gate on Rue Buffon. Early morning slots fill fastest during July heat, so arriving before 7:15 a.m. is recommended.
